Shipping FAQ
Shipping
Where do you ship?
We ship plants within the United States, except California and Hawaii, due to their strict agricultural regulations. Stickers can ship anywhere we offer shipping.
How much does shipping cost?
Plant shipping is a flat $12 per order, no matter how many plants you buy. Orders of $50 or more ship free, and the discount is applied automatically at checkout.
When will my order ship?
We ship plants on Mondays and Tuesdays so they don't sit in a warehouse over the weekend. Orders placed later in the week will ship the following Monday or Tuesday. Most orders arrive within 2 to 5 business days after shipping.
Why do my stickers and plants arrive separately?
Our stickers are printed and shipped by our print partner, so they arrive in their own package, sometimes on a different day than your plants.
Do you offer local options?
Yes! Local customers can choose porch drop-off at checkout, and we'll bring your plants right to your door with no shipping box needed.
Winter Shipping
Is it safe to ship plants in winter?
Usually, yes, with some extra care. Most houseplants are tropical and can be damaged by temperatures below 50°F. Cold damage typically shows up as dark, mushy, or translucent leaves, sometimes a day or two after the plant arrives.
How do you protect plants in cold weather?
We wrap each plant in soft poly fiberfill, which acts as insulation, then cushion the box with kraft paper and biodegradable packing peanuts. We also only ship early in the week so plants don't sit in a warehouse over the weekend.
What is the heat pack add-on?
For $5, we'll add a 72-hour heat pack to your box. It's packed so it warms the box without touching your plants directly. One heat pack is enough for most orders. Just add it to your cart along with your plants.
When should I add a heat pack?
We recommend a heat pack whenever the forecast low is below 50°F where you live, or anywhere along the route, during the week your plants will be traveling.
Do you still ship when it's really cold?
Yes, we still ship during cold weather. If you have any concerns about the temperatures in your area, please reach out to us right away at sam@thegoldenpothos.org so we can agree on the best time frame to ship your order.
What if my plant arrives cold-damaged?
If you added a heat pack and your plant arrives damaged, email us photos at sam@thegoldenpothos.org within 24 hours of delivery and we'll make it right with a refund or store credit. Orders shipped without a heat pack during cold weather are shipped at the buyer's risk.
Tips for when your plant arrives
- Bring the box inside right away. Don't leave it on a cold porch.
- Open the box and let your plant warm up to room temperature slowly.
- Keep it away from heaters and drafty windows.
- Wait a day or two before watering or repotting so your plant can settle in.
